Motion
of No Confidence ?

Thumbs down for Gordon Brown !
July 22, 2009
Gordon Brown can certainly breathe a sigh of relief now that the British Parliament is in recess. The political heat from that quarter at least is in remission. However, scandals of all kinds have brought down ministers, and even the Speaker of the House of Commons was forced to resign in a very stormy session that has just ended.
Britons swept Tony Blair into power after more than a decade of Conservative government under Margaret Thatcher who was unceremoniously dumped by her party who desperately sought to cling to power under John Major who did manage to win the next election but only served one term. Now, after 14 years of Labor, (or should we say "New Labor" ?) the question on all minds now is: Has the worm finally turned ? Will Britain embrace the "New Tories" under David Cameron ?
With Parliament in recess, it is not possible to table a motion of "No Confidence" in the Government of Gordon Brown, sooner or later, however, Britons will express their views on his tenure as Prime Minister, and a resounding defeat will greet him at the next election I predict - based on the current opinion polls and the worsening crisis in the economy !
